Music helps us in a number of ways. I don’t know about you, but it helps me concentrate, soothes my nerves, and can also get me in to the mood to dance!

Music also helps me to keep track of time. I find myself planning my routine around songs: “I’ll get a shower for 3 songs, I’ll do my makeup base in two, and I hope my eyeliner takes one song each eye, but I’ll give myself three just in case I mess up.”

Whether you’re going out to drink with friends or getting ready for work, life can feel like a real effort at times. Even the thought of these events can make you not want to go. Here at Empoword Journalism, we love music and making the best playlists. So, don’t worry! I have written a guide for the best songs to play to perk yourself up, whether it’s for pre-drinks or a long, hard shift.
