When lockdown hit, there was one woman who quickly rose to fame with her at home workouts. Chloe Ting. I’ll admit, I was also taken under Chloe Ting’s wing and attempted the two week ab challenge and ultimately hated it. I tried so hard to stay on top of it but admitted defeat in the end and looked for other ways I could stay fit that were both fun but also achievable and rewarding. I am someone who strongly dislikes working out and therefore looks for the easier and more fun ways, so I took to google and struck gold with the results.

Dance Workout

Now dancing is something I can get on board with. A quick Youtube search and the possibilities provided me with excitement. Mama Mia, One Direction, and Tiktok songs were just a few of the options that came up. It’s fun, no equipment is needed, and it is a fantastic way to release endorphins whilst also improving those dancing skills. But don’t worry, you do not need to be a professional dancer to do it and it can be done from the comfort of your own home.

Walking

It may sound boring initially but it is something I grew to love over lock down. I have never been a runner so walking is essentially the next best thing right? It is not only accessible and free but also very effective at keeping you fit. Downloading an app on your phone and tracking your route is also really helpful. At the end of the day, distance doesn’t matter but the wonders walking does for your mental health, now that does matter. Mental health is just as important as physical health. If I have ever have a stressful day at work and just need some fresh air, I head out with the dog and it’s like medicine; my mood improves immediately.

Couch to 5k

If you are interested in getting into running but need a bit of guidance, then you should definitely download this app. It eases you into the whole running world whilst also being your biggest motivator. Now personally, running isn’t for me, but a few of my friends tried this app and they absolutely loved it. I know the idea of someone guiding me through each step and encouraging me is definitely appealing.

Cleaning

Now I know this sounds like a crazy idea, however, grabbing that hoover or duster can often be a great way to increase your heart rate. If you struggle with standard physical activities or this is something that is inaccessible to you, then I would highly recommend it. What’s better than killing two birds with one stone, house work done and heart rate raised. You really will feel accomplished.

Hopefully a few of these ideas inspire you. I think it is also important to mention that if you do not feel up to exercising, then that is also fine. With the current world we live in, it is extremely important to look at all the positive things in life. Beating yourself up about not exercising or working out is not worth it. You are only human and tomorrow is another day.
