TW: This article mentions drug use and near-fatal overdose.

On March 26, pop sensation Demi Lovato dropped her latest single ‘Dancing With The Devil’. The title track of her upcoming album is an honest and confessional song that gives fans a personal insight into what the 28-year-old singer has been through.

The song starts with a mellow slow beat that perfectly reflects Lovato’s husky vocals as she shares her struggles of substance abuse, exploring the singer’s relapse of drug use and touching on her near-fatal overdose. With the chorus opening line suggesting to fans just how deadly it could have been:

“I was dancing with the devil, out of control / Almost made it to Heaven / It was closer than you know.”

Lovato’s honesty is an inspiring reminder of the importance of sharing your own story so others can know how serious substance abuse can be and are, hopefully, deterred from any potential use.

“‘Dancing With The Devil’ is one of Lovato’s strongest songs to date, with the honest lyrics and brilliant vocals”

The bridge is no doubt the most powerful part of the single, with Lovato’s vocals being at the top of her game giving us her iconic flawless note that helps the singer stand out against the typical pop singer.

‘Dancing With The Devil’ is one of Lovato’s strongest songs to date. The honest lyrics and brilliant vocals giving it a sense of what to expect from her upcoming album of the same name, with hopes that it will explore a more personal side for the singer with just as brilliant vocals and lyrics as ‘Dancing With The Devil’.
