Formula 1 season is an exciting time for fans and drivers. There is uncertainty with driver contracts, new cars and endless wonder as to who will win this year.

The winter season and car launch dates provide an exhilarating few months before the on-track action begins. Teams have provided dates for fans to countdown to before the cars, liveries and team overalls are launched to the public.

New Liveries

The first team to launch their livery was McLaren, who “hard-launched” their 2024 look with no warning or build-up. Alongside their new livery, McLaren also launched a new campaign – ‘Whatever It Takes’, which was created in the hopes of providing a Championship-winning car no matter what.

However, McLaren waited a few days before launching their new team overalls. The kit features a striking orange and black suit that is sure to draw eyes on them, both on and off the track.

The next team to launch their car was Haas. They went with an evolution of their traditional black, white and red to provide a stunning livery.

Haas will no longer have Team Principal Guenther Steiner at the helm. Engineer Ayao Komatsu will be stepping up to take charge of this new and exciting VF-24.

Some said that the car launch was overshadowed by Hamilton’s shock Ferrari move. Others claimed that the loss of Steiner could shift the focus to Haas, with fans eager to see what they’ll bring to the track this year.

Williams and Kick Sauber

Both Williams and Kick Sauber launched their car on the same day, with Williams launching first.

Williams opted for a gorgeous deep-blue livery, with comments that it has connections to their Championship-winning cars. The colour is adorned with shades from throughout the years, which doesn’t take away from the classic white and red pinstripes on the front wing.

Additionally, the team launched their all-white suits. The release comes with the hope that they’ll return to the front of the grid with their Championship-endorsed colours.

On the same day, Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber launched their new car — the C44. The team, which has had a name change after losing their Italian sponsor Alfa Romeo, gained sponsors from Kick and Stake. Therefore, they created an eye-catching livery to represent the colours. The launch showed a fluorescent green and black livery, a bold new look that is sure to catch attention. Furthermore, they have matched the vibrant colours to their new race suits, making them easy to spot amongst the grid.

An Exciting Moment

The rest of the teams car releases were as follows:

  • Alpine — Wednesday 7th February
  • Visa Cash App RB — Thursday 8th February
  • Aston Martin — Monday 12th February
  • Ferrari — Tuesday 13th February
  • Mercedes — Wednesday 14th February
  • McLaren (car, not livery) — Wednesday 14th February
  • Red Bull — Thursday 15th February

The launches provide an extra moment of excitement for fans, before the on-track action begins. Pre-season testing will be hosted in Sakhir between 21st and 23rd February.

“Formula 1 team liveries provide an easily identifiable look both on and off the track.”

Whilst not completely accurate of what to expect in the 2024 season, pre-season testing provides an insight into how things may go for fan-favourite teams. It can also allow the drivers to get to grips with the new cars powering them through the season.

Formula 1 team liveries provide an easily identifiable look both on and off the track, which helps attract sponsors and fans from across the world.

As a result, merchandise is likely to also change. Kick Sauber have now adopted their fluorescent green and black look. Their merchandise will most likely change from their maroon, black and white “Alfa Romeo” look.
