Sea Girls, a London-based four-piece who changed the indie scene during lockdown, have released a new track title ‘This Is The End’, just 4 months after the release of their debut album Open Up Your Head and a release of standalone single, ‘Accident Waiting To Happen’ at the start of the year.
Upon release, the debut album went to number 3 in the UK Official Album Chart, sitting amongst the likes of Taylor Swift and Biffy Clyro, with tracks such as ‘All I Want To Hear You Say’ and ‘Do You Really Wanna Know?’ premiering as Radio 1 Annie Mac’s Hottest Records.
Their newest single, ‘This is The End’, takes an emotional detour from the Open Up Your Head era that the band recently endured, as we hear singer Henry Camamile recount the tumultuous ending of a relationship that he struggles to come to terms with.
As a heartfelt yet very relatable track, Sea Girls have drawn a close of the Open Up Your Head phase with a very special track – named appropriately to mark the end of an era. Still emulating their familiar style, Sea Girls are set to enter a new phase of their career and into new heights – with sold-out shows and eager fans awaiting them in 2021 following the re-opening of venues across the UK and Europe.
Though I cannot help but be disappointed that our tickets for the Cardiff show have been pushed back to Autumn 2020, I am reassured by their constant drive to release new material and amaze fans that these shows will be bigger and better than we had previously anticipated.
The single’s video has also been released, filmed at London’s O2 Brixton Academy on the night that the band were supposed to play their biggest headline show to date. Through disappointing circumstances has come an amazing piece of film, which will forever be a reminder of a bizarre yet monumental time in the band’s career.
Sea Girls are set to tour the UK and Europe in 2021 to premier these new tracks for the first time, something that fans are very much looking forward to.
