On 8th September 2022, Her Majesty the Queen passed away at Balmoral Castle with her immediate family by her side.

A statement from Buckingham Palace reported that Queen was under medical supervision in her Scottish estate earlier today, following concerns about her health.

It was reported that several family members, including the Queen’s children and grandchildren, travelled to the residence over the last few hours.

However, a statement from Buckingham Palace has now confirmed that Her Majesty the Queen has passed away at the age of 96.

After celebrating her Platinum Jubilee earlier this year, Queen Elizabeth II had the longest reign of any monarch in this country, and has been a significant figurehead for generations.

Coming to the throne following the death of her father King George VI in 1952, the Queen has overseen major political changes in the UK, from the Troubles in Northern Ireland to the recent departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union.

The Queen is also the longest-lived monarch this country has seen, having lived through world wars, a global pandemic, and working with fifteen different Prime Ministers.

Her Majesty will be succeeded by her eldest son Charles, the Prince of Wales.

Empoword Journalism sends our deepest condolences to the Royal Family at this time.
