Netflix have released the names of more cast members for their upcoming fantasy series The Witcher: Blood Origin.

Laurence O’Fuarain (Vikings), Sophia Brown (Marcella) and Michelle Yeoh (Crazy Rich Asians) lead the six-part prequel series. Joining them on screen includes Lenny Henry (Lord Of the Rings Series) as Balor, Mirren Mack (The Nest) as Merwyn, Nathaniel Curtis (It’s A Sin) as Brían and Dylan Moran (Black Books) as Uthrok One-Nut.

Set in an elven world 1200 years prior to The Witcher, the series will uncover the journey of the creation and origins of the first prototype Witcher. It will also disclose the events that lead to the ‘Conjunction of the Spheres’, the event that brought together the worlds of monsters, men and elves.

Also joining the cast are Jacob Collins Levy (Young Wallander) in the role of Eredin, Lizzie Annis as Zacaré, Huw Novelli (The Capture) as Callan “Brother Death”, Francesca Mills (Harlots) as Meldof, Amy Murray as Fenrik and Zach Wyatt (Karen Pirie) will play Syndril.

Directors include Sarah O’Gorman (Cursed) and Vicky Jewson (Close), and Declan de Barra will act as executive producer and showrunner. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Matt O’Toole are executive producers. Andrzej Sapkowski, who wrote the books the prequel will be based on, will also serve as creative consultant. Jason Brown and Sean Daniel from Hivemind, and Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko from Platige Films will also all serve as executive producers.

Original Netflix series The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill, recently revealed a first trailer for the second season, and announced that after production wrapped in April, the second season will premiere on 17 December 2021.

Principal photography has begun for The Witcher: Blood Origin this month. Netflix are yet to announce when this series will premiere.
