Ep 4. Race, Report and Royals

Ep 4. Race, Report and Royals

2 May 2021

In our fourth episode, Aarthee and Sanjana sit down with both the government’s recent race and ethnic disparities report and also the UK media’s coverage of the passing of HRH Prince Philip.

Whilst perhaps unrelated topics on the surface, they start to unpick the motives behind both of these stories and why there was such a vicious public debate, with both sides feeling very strongly about their stance.

They talk about their personal reactions to both events and how they tie into a bigger discussion on discrimination and how society must move forward in order to tackle existing prejudices.

Touching on performative anti-racism, the political agendas at play, and the presence of colonialism in the current day, this may be the most contentious episode so far!
